UNATT is an acronym for the United Nations Association of Trinidad & Tobago. It is a voluntary non-profit organization established to advance the objectives of human development, the promotion and maintenance of peace and respect for human rights and is open to individuals who are 18 years and over.

UNATT's precursor, the Friends of the United Nations of Trinidad & Tobago (FOUNTT), began in December 1992 and was headed by it's President Mr. Louis Wiltshire, High Commissioner for Trinidad and Tobago to CARICOM.

FOUNTT was primarily envisaged as a fund-raising/management committee. The rationale for its existence was to assist the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) for the Caribbean Area to overcome hose financila constraints which had a negative impact on its ability to carry out its responsibilities at that time.

FOUNTT also aided UNIC with the responsibity of promoting wider public undedrstandingof the aims and activities of the UN System in Trinidad and Tobago.

Moving Forward..

UNATT was officially launched on UN Day, 24th October 1996, effectively replacing FOUNTT, and is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).

WFUNA was founded in 1946 and is the only international, non governmental Organization devoted entirely to the support and principles of the United Nations Charter. (read more about WFUNA here | YouTube Video)
